From Our Executive Director

What we've been working on this spring.

This spring has been a busy and exciting time as Clark Coalition continues to grow.

For the last several months, the focus of our work has been preparing for the Public Hearing on Industrial Solar, which culminated on May 25th. Those preparations were aptly rewarded as a crowd of 300 people turned out to participate in one of the most significant land-use discussions to take place in Clark County in decades.

Of the local citizens who gave testimony, 64 spoke in opposition to industrial solar, with only 3 in favor, and 2 undecided. In addition to public comment, a number of experts presented their research to inform the monumental decision before our local officials.

We continue to engage our elected officials one-on-one to discuss Industrial Solar and other issues related to land-use, growth and the future of Winchester-Clark County. We advocate for data-driven policies, supported by proven smart growth strategies that will enhance our unique community.

Clark Coalition is a proud new member of the Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce. The Coalition strongly supports smart growth and economic development opportunities that result in real progress for our citizens. Our participation in the Chamber of Commerce is a natural extension of that mission.

By promoting what is so special about Winchester-Clark County, we will attract a 21st century, knowledge-based workforce and the types of innovative businesses that rely on such workers. With continuing investment in our hometown, we will fulfill our vision to build a thriving community in the heart of our iconic and dynamic Bluegrass landscape.

There are many ways you can join our efforts: attend local meetings, follow news stories in the Winchester Sun, Like Clark Coalition on Facebook and share Coalition updates with your friends and family.

Finally, please consider investing in the future of Winchester-Clark County by supporting Clark Coalition through one of our fundraising initiatives: The #ProtectClark Campaign and The Founders’ Campaign.

The #Protect Clark Campaign is the grassroots effort led by rural homeowners to protect Clark County’s dynamic Bluegrass landscape from widespread Industrial Solar development. Donors of $500 in a calendar year will be recognized as a Rural Leader and receive special access to Coalition offerings.

In addition to supporting the pressing need for resources to contest Industrial Solar, the Founders’ Campaign exists to make Clark Coalition a vital, long-term force for smart growth in our community. To learn more about becoming a Founder, please contact us at info@clarkcoalition.com.

Regardless of donation amount, our work to advance good growth, good jobs and good government in Winchester-Clark County would not be possible without you!  Thank you!
